Fashion designer Donna Karan collaborated with her sculptor husband, Stephan Weiss, in designing their East Hampton beach house. “Everything I buy is about texture and scale,” says Karan, a self-described inveterate shopper whose finds often inspire her designs. Mirrors, including a French parcel-gilt trumeau, are propped against the living room walls “like living pictures,” and lace, linen and shawls are layered on the furniture. (October 1994)
