黑人離婚率比白人高出一倍..(不是  twice嗎?  怎麼高出一倍?)

//現在是以前的兩倍.
//例如:現在是200,以前是100.高出一倍,不是嗎?!


The  sales  of  cars  have  increased  eight  times  since  1992. 
1992年以來，電視機的銷量增加了七倍。 
(不是eight  times)

//目前是800,1992年是100.
//是七倍吧?!


There  is  a  six-fold  reduction  in  volume.
體積縮小了六分之五  or  體積縮小為六分ㄓㄧ。
怎會是分數阿?  不是六倍嗎??

//One  six-fold是1/6.
//少了5/6,不是嗎?!


The  students  population  has  increased  four  times.It  was  one  thousand  and  now  it  is  four.
學生人數翻了兩番，由一千升到四千。
four  times??

//1000翻一番是2000,2000再翻一番變4000.

黑人離婚率為白人兩倍  (所以是"高出了"一倍)

The  sales  of  cars  have  increased  eight  times  since  1992.
車子的銷售量是1992年的8倍  (所以是"增加了"7倍)

體積是之前的六倍小  (所以體積"縮小了"六分之五)

以上    全都是換句話說而已
最後一句    four  times  就是4倍啊   

基本上我覺得英文很清楚的表達出倍數多寡了，不過中文礙於翻譯的過程，甚至有時會有文字遊戲的情況出現，所以會造成理解上的困擾，比方說

The  divorce  rate  among  the  Blacks  is  twice  as  high  as  the  Whites.
(黑人離婚率比白人高出一倍)
簡單的說是黑人離婚率是白人的兩倍。兩倍比一倍高出一倍

The  sales  of  cars  have  increased  eight  times  since  1992.   
(1992年以來，"車子"的銷量增加了七倍。)
我覺得這裡七倍的翻譯的確會讓人誤解，明明是八倍

There  is  a  six-fold  reduction  in  volume.
(體積縮小了六分之五    or    體積縮小為六分ㄓㄧ。)
這題翻譯成縮小為六分之一是沒錯的。英文裡的sixfold是六倍或六重的意思，reduction是縮小，體積縮小六倍，也就是原本體積的六分之一

The  students  population  has  increased  four  times.It  was  one  thousand  and  now  it  is  four.
(學生人數翻了兩番，由一千升到四千。)
這裡要做點算數，four  times是四倍，學生人數原本是一千，四倍的話就是四千。至於翻譯"翻了兩翻"是有點讓人頓了一下，我想是因為翻一倍是兩千，兩千再一倍就是四千了，所以翻成翻了兩翻
