For  a  limited  period  from  9th  to  26th  June,  an  ephemeral  Chanel  boutique  will  be  created  at  Dover  Street  Market  in  London  to  showcase  an  edited  selection  of  Ready  to  Wear,  accessories,  and  shoes  from  the  unique  Metiers  d`Arts  Paris-Londres  Collection.

This  is  the  first  time  that  Chanel  will  be  available  at  London`s  Dover  Street  Market,  where  exclusive  window  displays  and  installations  throughout  the  store  will  be  devoted  to  Chanel  for  this  special  event.

Stella  McCartney將回到父親Paul  McCartney故鄉利物普舉辦08春下系列的發表

STELLA  IN  LIVERPOOL:  Stella  McCartney  is  going  back  to  her  roots.  The  designer  will  host  a  presentation  of  her  fall  collection  in  Liverpool,  her  father  Sir  Paul  McCartney`s  hometown,  at  the  Liverpool  Institute  for  Performing  Arts  on  June  1.  The  show  —  set  to  take  place  in  the  school`s  Paul  McCartney  auditorium  —  is  part  of  a  program  that  will  celebrate  Liverpool  as  the  European  capital  of  culture  in  2008.  And  while  Paul  McCartney  will  be  among  the  audience  at  his  daughter`s  show  in  the  afternoon  (he`s  set  to  play  a  concert  in  the  city  later  that  evening)  a  clutch  of  yet-to-be-named  British  artists  will  perform  live  music  sets  alongside.

MARC  AT  SAINT  MARTINS:  Marc  Jacobs  gave  students  at  London`s  Central  Saint  Martins  College  an  insight  into  life  in  the  design  world  beyond  the  college  walls  Monday  night.  Journalist  Sarah  Mower,  a  professor  at  the  college,  interviewed  Jacobs  on  stage,  along  with  two  members  of  his  design  team  at  Louis  Vuitton  —  Emilie  Jacquet,  who  designs  handbags  for  the  house,  and  Fabrizio  Viti,  who  designs  shoes.  And  during  the  hour-long  discussion,  Jacobs  was  frank  about  the  battles  he`s  waged  with  the  business  side  of  the  design  houses  he`s  worked  for.

Au  Revoir,  Yves 
向大師致敬,  聖羅蘭於今天去世,  享年71歲.

Yves  is  gone.


Yves  Saint  Laurent,  one  of  the  greatest  fashion  designers  in  history,  died  at  his  home  in  Paris  late  Sunday  at  71  after  a  long,  undisclosed  illness.  He  had  been  bedridden  recently  and  friends  said  in  the  last  week  he  had  been  unable  to  eat  or  talk.  Saint  Laurent  had  been  rarely  seen  over  the  last  year,  and  even  then  he  was  wheelchair  bound  and  weak.

The  designer’s  health  had  been  precarious  throughout  his  life.  At  age  21,  he  burst  onto  the  scene  as  the  sensational  new  designer  at  Christian  Dior,  replacing  the  late  Monsieur  Dior  himself.  The  bespectacled,  shy,  soft-spoken  designer  quickly  became  an  icon  —  and  would  remain  so  for  the  next  five  decades.

Karl  Lagerfeld個人攝影展

時尚圈「全才」設計大師卡爾拉格斐（Karl  Lagerfeld）又有新作，這次主題不再是時裝、場地也不再侷限於伸展台、名模則換成法國代表建築凡爾賽宮。

卡爾拉格斐的攝影作品過去經常出現在全球頂尖的時尚雜誌，這回他選擇透過光影捕捉巴黎凡爾賽宮獨特而精彩的風貌。

為什麼選擇凡爾賽宮？拉格斐說，凡爾賽宮如同童話故事的場景，「一個其實存在但卻呼應人們想像力的意境」。卡爾拉格斐以類似電影情境的手法，透過光影，帶領欣賞者進入幾乎超越現實的凡爾賽宮。

大師和凡爾賽國家博物館館長尚雅克阿亞貢（Jean-Jacques  Aillagon）一起精選40張黑白照，並以特殊的velleum花紋紙材顯影。「紙張是我最喜愛的材料，對我而言，也是所有創意的起點。」攝影作品以灰色、無框架的底布襯托，簡約地陳列牆面，讓人直接欣賞到這些經過特別處理的攝影作品，有一種「仿古印製」的風格。卡爾拉格斐攝影展覽由CHANEL獨家贊助。

She  did  a  great  job.  This  collection  was  so  much  more  interesting  than  her  ready-to-wear  show,  and,  of  course,  you  might  expect  something  a  little  higher  up  for  couture.  But  there  was  more  expression  and  feeling—more  work—in  this  collection.

全球時尚圈都在看，今年才35歲的設計師費琪妮緹（Alessandra  Facchinetti），是否夠資格設計高級訂製服？尤其她又是時尚大師Valentino的接班人，會不會砸了招牌？前晚登場的訂製服秀上，費琪妮緹以未來太空風詮釋Valentino的柔美優雅，巧妙融入花朵刺繡、范倫鐵諾紅等經典元素，不但贏得了掌聲，且獲得亞曼尼大師的鼓勵與擁抱。
過去四十年來，高級訂製服可說是男性設計師的天下，費琪妮緹可說是40年來第一個打破傳統的女人。雖說有時尚評論家認為她在刺繡的運用上略嫌生疏，布滿刺繡的禮服顯得沈重臃腫，不過多數人對於她以輕柔的雪紡紗展現女人的飄逸柔美，成功詮釋Valentino的品牌風格。

Metallic  and  majestic,  the  pipes  rose  to  the  glass  dome  of  the  Grand  Palais  with  all  the  graphic  weight  of  the  recent  Richard  Serra  exhibition.  Yet  the  installation  was  not  contemporary  art  but  at  a  Chanel  show.  Could  this  be  Karl  Lagerfeld`s  commentary  on  pipe  lines  of  oil  gushing  moneyed  clients  into  haute  couture?

"Organ  pipes,"  explained  the  designer,  referring  to  the  inspiration  that  came  to  him  during  a  concert  and  that  he  had  translated,  with  extraordinary  couture  skills,  into  tiny  tubes  of  tulle  that  shaped  the  midriff  of  a  dress,  created  a  silvered  tubular  sleeve  or  ultimately  dangled  from  a  dress  like  gothic  car-wash  strips.

Christian  Dior  Fall  2008  Couture  Collection

At  Christian  Dior`s  show,  the  feline-faced  models  with  arched  eyebrows  and  succulent,  shiny  lips  were  so  much  in  the  spirit  of  Carla  Bruni  Sarkozy  that  you  half  expected  her  to  appear  at  the  finale.  The  approach  that  designer  John  Galliano  has  taken  in  dressing  the  wife  of  the  French  president  was  the  soul  of  this  autumn-winter  show:  incisive  cutting  on  clothes  molded  to  the  body,  with  a  subterranean  sexual  charge.
It  was  time  for  Galliano  to  move  from  haute  fantasy  to  fantastic  haute  couture  and  maybe  it  was  the  reality  of  dressing  a  beautiful  woman  for  the  modern  world  that  has  saved  him  from  himself.

Jean  Paul  Gautier`s  Fall  2008  Collection

The  fluorescent  laser  beams  that  raked  over  the  finale  of  Jean  Paul  Gaultier`s  show  Wednesday  marked  a  sweet  moment  for  fashion  and  for  the  designer,  who  broke  out  of  his  Cages  aux  Folles  to  create  an  exuberant  and  exceptional  collection.

As  a  shadow  of  a  basket-weave  vest  created  a  tracery  of  pattern  on  a  bared  back,  or  as  purple  silk  was  viewed  through  a  peep  show  of  cut-outs,  Gaultier  had  found  a  theme  that  was  in  tune  with  the  current  vogue  for  lace,  yet  also  meaningful  in  the  modern  world.  For  the  cages  that  he  created  by  criss-crossing  a  coat  with  leather  straps  or  by  turning  the  weave  into  a  nonchalant  fur-trimmed  gilet  were  never  constricting.

Lanvin與瑞典品牌ACNE  jeans推出單寧系列

Shirts  and  shoes,  jackets  and  jewels,  dresses  and  purses  -  and  of  course  jeans  -  are  available  in  the  latest  mass/class  fashion  partnership.  This  time  it  is  between  the  Swedish  company  Acne  Jeans  and  the  luxury  brand  Lanvin.

What  began  as  a  meeting  between  Alber  Elbaz  of  Lanvin  and  Jonny  Johansson,  the  creative  director  of  Acne  Jeans,  to  make  one  pair  of  jeans  led  to  the  creation  of  a  wardrobe  of  denim  designs  that  will  be  sold  in  the  stores  of  both  brands.(IHT)

Peter  Som結束與Bill  Blass終止短暫的合作關係,  接手人選未定.

The  news  that  Peter  Som  has  left  Bill  Blass  makes  me  think  the  owners  (or  the  next  owners)  ought  to  find  a  good  creative  director  type  and  stick  with  licensing.  If  my  count  is  correct,  I  think  the  label  has  had  four  designers  since  Bill  Blass  sold  the  company  and  retired.  Unless  the  owners  are  really  prepared  to  manage  and  invest  in  a  high-quality  ready-to-wear  business,  I  think  they  should  just  skip  it.  Too  much  ground  as  been  lost  in  an  increasingly  competitive  marketplace—and  we  are  only  starting  to  see  what  can  happen  with  imaginative  online  fashion.  Blass  is  behind  the  proverbial  eight  ball.

紐約品牌Halston換掉極受好評的設計總監Marco  Zanini

It  seems  to  be  a  recurring  theme  at  Halston:  another  collection,  another  designer.  Women’s  Wear  today  reported  that  Marco  Zanini,  who  showed  his  first  collection  for  Halston  this  past  February,  has  left  the  company.  Zanini  came  from  Versace,  and  was  duly  praised  by  Tamara  Mellon,  one  of  Halston’s  new  owners.  I  thought  his  first  collection  was  terrific—exactly  what  these  over-rich,  over-starched  times  need.  But  I  know  that  a  number  of  retailers  were  disappointed  with  the  clothes,  saying  they  weren’t  special  enough.  Stay  tuned.  There  is  bound  to  be  more  news  from  this  house.  (And,  of  course,  everyone  is  asking:  Now  who?  Ain’t  that  a  puzzle.)
